Tuff Crew featuring Prime Minister Dope - Old School Jackin'

A recent discussion with Zilla Rocca regarding the history of Philly emcees brought back memories of the above track from the Tuff Crew. I'm not sure how widely known Tuff Crew were outside of the Philly/NJ area, but they were one of the most underrated groups of the early 90's. The centerpiece of the group was DJ Too Tuff, one of the best scratch dj's of all time, but emcees L.A. Kid and Ice Dog were more than competent. The pinnacle of their brief careers, as far as I'm concerned, however came as a result of a guest appearance from Prime Minister Dope on Old School Jackin'. The Prime Minister only appeared on two tracks his entire career - this and Erie Avenue with Too Brown, a song so rare I couldn't even find it on youtube - but the man made the most of his very brief time on the mic.

Here's one more song from Tuff Crew, featuring some of the best scratching of Too Tuff's career:

Tuff Crew - My Part of Town

And since Zilla inspired this post, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention his latest tribute to J Dilla (who's birthday is today), a remake of Nag Champa. Peep:
