Back around Thanksgiving, Curly Castro (a man who we've featured a few times in the past) reached out and asked for some photoshop assistance on artwork for a couple of singles he was about to release. After exchanging a few more emails, we ended up doing an interview and collaborating on some cover art for another two singles. The end result is that I've been holding on to a whole lot of great material from the man and, with his new album Winston's Appeal about to drop this Friday, I'll be putting all of it up on the site over the next week.
So to kick off Curly Castro Week here on 33Jones, we've got a single from his upcoming album. The song, "Eulogy to L", uses a beat from Castro's partner in crime Zilla Rocca, the Boomin' System Remix. Over the remake of LL Cool J's classic Boomin' System, Castro eulogizes the man and his career. No, LL didn't sneak a subliminal aimed at Cas in 1, 2, 3, 4. Rather, he's upset that the G.O.A.T. has exchanged the crown for Hollywood riches. It's a eulogy that any true fan of hip hop can appreciate. Peep:
