Stadium Status from Internets Celebrities

This past week, two videos of investigative journalism with tangential relations to hip hop were released that I felt were worthy of your attention. First up is the latest from the Internets Celebrities (Rafi, DP and Casimir Nozkowski), Stadium Status, "a documentary which examines the rush of new sports stadiums in NYC as the latest example of an obscene national trend." The soundtrack (which can be heard at the 12:12 and 16:40 marks of the video) was put together by our longtime friend Bless 1.

Secret Society Investigates USPA (US Polo Association aka Fake Polo)

The second video, filmed by a few enterprising young journalists/'Lo Heads from Newark, "investigate[s] the new epidemic in the hood, the sudden influx of the USPA brand." I'll admit to not being particularly fashion conscious - I've been rocking the same damn 'lo sweater shirt for a few years now - but I have noticed these shirts with what seemed to be giant Polo logos cropping up recently. As this video (which is admittedly about 5 minutes too long) reveals, the USPA brand is not affiliated with Polo Ralph Lauren.

In fact, Ralph Lauren has been battling the USPA in a trademark dispute for over thirty years now. In 2008 Ralph Lauren lost a lawsuit against the USPA, so it's likely this clothing line isn't going anywhere anytime soon. The lesson here for those afraid of committing a fashion faux pas: make sure there's just one polo horse on the logo of all your articles of clothing.
