Bambu featuring Prometheus Brown - "Slow down"
About a year ago I put up a song from former Native Guns emcee Bambu, Quit Hip Hop. Almost twelve months have passed since he released the song, so I wanted to check in and see what he's been up to in the intervening months. It seems he's been quite busy, as he's not only begun touring the west coast with Blue Scholars, but also found enough time to record a new EP, Paper Cuts. The EP doesn't have any songs on it that hit me quite the same way as Quit, one of my favorite songs from last year, but the above song Slow Down, featuring Prometheus Brown of Blue Scholars, comes close. Paper Cuts is worth a listen strictly on the strength of Bambu's skills as an emcee, one of the few rappers I've heard who can successfully straddle the line between conscious and gangster lyricism.
