As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, my man Nico the Beast is in the process of building up a roster of artists for his new Memory Lane Music Group. After introducing us to female emcee Vixion, Nico is now in the process of getting exposure for North Philly rapper B.Kane. Before any of you old school heads start sweating over the similarity to Antonio Hardy's stage name, it should be pointed out that his real name is Brian Kane. Nevertheless, there ain't no half-stepping in this Kane's game as he's been holding down the underground scene in North Philly (aka The Badlands) for close to a decade now.
Kane is releasing a new mixtape, The Legend of Kane Vol. 2, this Saturday, April 17th. He's having a release party the same night at Philly's Tacony Billiards Club. Nico will also be performing, so if you're in the area be sure to swing through and show some love.
I asked Nico how he first met up with Kane, and here's what he had to say:
I met him in the local hip hop scene. We chopped it up at a few shows and I had 'em come thru to do a verse on "Dinner Is Served"! We wound up chillin for a few hours and I peeped that he was a North Philly version of myself! He's now a great friend of mine outside this rap shit and anything I can do to help 'em succeed will be done. He sealed that fate wit me when he showed up at my son's funeral. Great fuckin' dude! Period!
The best cut I've heard from B.Kane so far features him going in on the beat from Snoop's I Wanna Rock. He only has it available through his reverbnation page, so we're going to give this reverb player a shot and see how it goes:
