The East Flatbush Project -- Inhale:

As promised, the producer behind The East Flatbush Project, Spencer Bellamy, hit me up over the weekend with one of the songs from his upcoming album. After listening to the track, I am surprised this dude hasn't gotten more love from mainstream hip hop. The only major label work he's done (that I'm aware of, anyway) has been for Sauce Money's Middle Finger U and the Belly soundtrack, including the beat for Pregame. Anyway, this track is from his upcoming album, First Born:

The East Flatbush Project -- Inhale

Inhale features Stress, a rapper out of East Orange, NJ, and a female MC from the Bay area, Fallon. Stress has been making some noise around my way, but I hadn't heard of Fallon. She sounds pretty dope on this track.

For more information on The East Flatbush Project, hit up Spencer Bellamy's MySpace page. The official East Flatbush Project album, First Born, will be released in 2007 under 10-30 Uproar Music.

On another note, I was recently asked to contribute to a year-end mix that was being put together by a bunch of music blogs. Among them, Discobelle, analog giant, callmemickey and a few other sites you've probably been reading. When the whole thing becomes available (I'm assuming it will be a free download, but I haven't gotten all of the details yet), I'll let you guys know.

I just finished my part of the mix, so I figured I'd put a link up to it. Its 15 minutes long, five tracks that I was feeling in 2006. These aren't necessarily what I would label the five best tracks of the year, just five tracks that I thought didn't quite get as much attention as they deserved (well, technically its four album tracks and one mixtape track, but you get the idea). Here it is:

My 15 minute mix (zShare link)

I'll be using that mix as the intro to our second annual 33Jones MiX-Mas CD. For those of you who weren't around last year, its a free cd I mail out to anyone who requests it. Just my way of saying thank you to all of you who come through the site. Filled with a bunch of remixes, freestyles, mashups, rare old school tracks and a bunch of other stuff that I never got a chance to post this year on the site, this year's cd should be even better than last year's. If any of you want a copy, just hit me up with an email (Mrjones AT 33jones.com). I'll probably start mailing them out on the 26th.

Comments:
There were some surprisingly good songs on that belly soundtrack. I played the hell out of that DMX/Sean Paul track when it first came out.

I can't seem to find the link, but a few months ago I put up a freestyle that I think is the first time Jay ever referred to himself as Hova. It was off of a Clue tape (maybe one of the Clue For President tapes, I can't remember). As far as I know, Pregame is the first time he ever called himself Jayhova on an "official" release.

That flatbush song is tight. Went to Fallon's site, she's looking kind of good in that Pez tshirt....

What song was the intro to that sean price joint at the end of your mix?

The song is Sister Nancy's Bam Bam, which is sampled by Sean Price's Jamaican.

If you're into dancehall, she's worth checking out. Here's a video of one of her live performances.
